Frequently Asked Questions

We've compiled a list of commonly asked questions about chiropractic care and provided detailed answers to help you better understand the benefits and principles of chiropractic treatment.

1. What is chiropractic care?

Chiropractic care is a non-invasive, drug-free healthcare discipline that focuses on diagnosing, treating, and preventing musculoskeletal system disorders, primarily those related to the spine. Chiropractors use manual adjustments and other techniques to restore alignment and proper function to the body, supporting the body's innate ability to heal itself.

Chiropractic adjustments are usually painless or associated with mild discomfort. Most patients experience immediate relief or improved mobility following an adjustment. Your chiropractor will use gentle and precise techniques tailored to your comfort level.

How should I prepare for my initial appointment?

All you need in your house is a small area for Dr James to set up his equipment. You can expect to answer questions about your previous medical or surgical history. If you have them and if they are relevant keep any scan/MRI reports handy, and list of medication.

During your first visit, Dr James will thoroughly evaluate your health history, perform a physical examination, and may request X-rays or other diagnostic tests if needed. Based on this assessment, he will create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your needs and discuss it with you.

If you have any additional questions or concerns not addressed in this FAQ section, please don't hesitate to contact us on 0468 935 358. We're here to provide you with the information and support you need to make informed decisions about your health and well-being.

How can I manage my pain before my appointment?

Apply an ice pack to the area for 5 minutes, then take it off, then continue to repeat this. If it is practical, elevate the injury higher than your heart to reduce swelling. Try to avoid using the injured area. If any of these measures increase pain, do not continue.

How does a chiropractic adjustment work?

A chiropractic adjustment, also known as a spinal manipulation, involves applying controlled force to a joint to improve its range of motion and alleviate pain. This manipulation aims to correct misalignments in the spine and other joints, facilitating proper nervous system function and promoting the body's natural healing processes.
